Costs and Fees

The most significant part of the acquisition costs are for taxes and stamp duties to be paid to the French State. Stamp duty is payable at a rate of 5.09% for older property (more than 5 years old) of the purchase price and 0.715% for new built property (less than 5 years old). The total legal fees associated with the purchase will be approximately 8-10% of the purchase price for an older property and 3 – 4% for a new built property.
